Rustic and Beautiful
The venue offers a fantastic ambience which you will not believe. It is rustic, but extremely beautiful. The setting is partially outdoors. We pitch a Bedouin-type tent to connect the buildings, which provides a huge covered area that includes an ample dance area, a cash bar facility and a lounge area, from where we also do the catering. The venue can accommodate 50 to 200 guests with ease. The decor is beautifully complemented by rustic floors and a huge fireplace, while blinds roll up to create a stunning, lowveld lapa feel. Your guests can enjoy champagne and exquisite canapés on the lawn whilst the sun sets over the West Coast.
The venue is versatile and can be adapted effortlessly to your personal taste.
In a rich and rustic bar, telling stories of a time long gone, you quench the thirst at affordable prices. Bar staff, ice, glasses etc are included in the venue fee.
Rustic, yet fully equipped restrooms, including hot-water showers, are located close by.
Log fires and strand-on-strand fairy lights create a magical atmosphere
We have a very unique, quaint little chapel on the farm, situated in a barn over 150 years old. It can seat 70 guests on hay bales fitted with seat covers.
Alternatively, we can do the wedding ceremony in Japie se Gat, amongst the eucalyptus trees, or on the lawns next to the reception area. The bride can be transported to the ceremony in a horse-drawn cart.
We have wooden tables and chairs, a range of décor items and most other props required. You really do not have to run around. However, should you wish to hire additional equipment, such as different chairs, gazebos, or a carpet, it will be for your own account
We also offer facilities for the bridal party to get dressed. This makes it possible for the photographer to cover both the bride and the groom’s preparations before the ceremony. The main manor, cottages and the farmyard, dating from 1832, provide a host of beautiful photography settings with lots of character.
The standard venue fee for all seasons, depending on the number of guests, include:

There is really no need for you to run around for anything. It is all inclusive and available on the farm! No additional invoices or hidden costs.
Schaftplaas is the perfect setting for your wedding day. We endeavour do take every possible step and effort to make your event enjoyable and successful.
The Schaftplaas team can do the flowers, decor, table decorations and set-up — we can do everything for you.
You are welcome to use any of the props and decor available on the farm at no extra cost. In the event of your wanting a specific colour or prop, we can always hire in at additional costs.
The only separate account you will have is for the actual procurement of the flowers (since we do not know what flowers you would like to use at this stage).
You are also welcome to use your own florist and decorators. Please liaise with the venue manager for arrangements. We would recommend a preferred service provider that knows the venue as well as all the décor we have already available.
Should you require any other range of cutlery, glassware, etc. the cost of hiring will be for your own account.
We have an inspired chef that will make all your culinary requirements a reality, ranging from approx. R200 to R500 per person, depending on your menu choice. We specialize in personalized menus and can cater to suit your personal taste and budget.
Our speciality is spitbraais, home-cooked, farm style food. Our starters consist of home-baked mini vetkoekies with fillings and toppings, crostini’s, mini beef or chicken kebabs and various exquisite canapés.
You have a choice of 1 or 2 meat dishes with 2 or 3 veggie dishes, salads and desserts of your choice.
It is important to note that we serve food buffet style. Guests are welcome to serve a second helping. We also fill up the buffets for at least 2 hours, allowing your guests to eat when they want and not having to stand in long queues. Nobody will go hungry, guaranteed.
Catering costs may vary and every attempt will be made to provide prior notice of suppliers’ price increases and changes to the menu.
We do not cater for Halaal/Kosher. If you do require catering for this, you are welcome to outsource for your own account. Every effort will be made to assist you with this.
You are also welcome to use your own service providers for catering at an additional cost of R50 per person. Caterers have to be on duty at the venue until your last guests leave to clear all cutlery, crockery and glassware off the tables.
