Each stable features iconic stable doors that evoke the romance of rural living, soft carpeting for underfoot comfort, and a choice of bunk or double beds to suit your needs. Ambient solar lighting casts a warm, inviting glow after dark, creating an intimate atmosphere that celebrates the beauty of unplugged living. This is accommodation for those who appreciate authenticity and seek to reconnect with the simple pleasures of farm life.
While the rooms have no electricity, we’ve thoughtfully provided a shared kitchen area equipped with a fridge, kettle, and basin for your convenience. Guests are encouraged to bring their own camping equipment for cooking, allowing complete flexibility and independence during your stay. Communal ablution facilities are located approximately 40 metres from the rooms, ensuring easy access to showers and bathrooms. Combined with access to our communal plunge dam and the peaceful farm surroundings, the stables provide the perfect setting for guests seeking a rustic, unplugged escape close to nature. What’s the difference between camping, canvas tents, and stables accommodation?
We offer three unique outdoor accommodation options to suit different preferences:
- Traditional camping allows you to pitch your own tent and bring your own gear for complete independence.
- Our Canvas Tents are under-roofed 3 x 3 metre Chopper tents with beds included—you simply bring your own bedding for added comfort and protection from the elements.
- The Stables offer converted farm buildings with iconic stable doors, beds, soft carpeting, and solar lighting, providing a rustic farm experience with more shelter. All three options provide access to communal facilities, the pool, and the beauty of our farm setting.
What facilities are available for camping and stables guests?
All camping and stables guests have access to clean communal bathrooms with showers, secure parking, and our refreshing communal pool. Communal braai (BBQ) areas and gardens are available for shared use, with separate braai drums available for private cooking. Camping guests have access to a communal kitchen area with fridge and kettle. Stables guests share a kitchen area with the same amenities. All guests benefit from the peaceful farm surroundings and the warmth of Schaftplaas hospitality.
Do I need to bring bedding and camping equipment?
This depends on your chosen accommodation. For traditional camping, you’ll need to bring your own tent and all camping gear. For Canvas Tents, beds are provided—you only need to bring your own bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets.) For Stables, beds are provided and you should bring your own bedding. All guests are encouraged to bring camping equipment for cooking if they wish to prepare their own meals, though communal kitchen facilities and braai areas are available for everyone’s use.
Is there electricity available in the camping or stables areas?
Stables accommodation does not have electricity in the rooms, creating an authentic unplugged experience. However, ambient solar lighting provides a warm glow after dark. Canvas Tents and traditional camping sites also do not have in-room electricity. This is intentional—we encourage guests to embrace the simplicity and tranquility of outdoor living. Communal areas have basic facilities like fridges and kettles for your convenience.
